Pease

Pease, Henry, englischer Eisenbahndirektor, jüngster Sohn des Eduard Pease, des Begründers der Stockton-Darlington-Bahn, geboren zu Darlington 1807, gestorben 1881. P. war, durch eine ausgezeichnete praktische Erziehung unter der unmittelbaren Leitung seines Vaters besonders für die Eisenbahnbetriebsgeschäfte vorbereitet, schon im Alter von 23 Jahren Mitglied der Direktion der Stockton-Darlington-Bahn. Er nahm in Gemeinschaft mit seinem älteren Bruder Josef, dem ersten »Schatzmeister« der Stockton-Darlington-Bahn, lebhaften Anteil an der Leitung der Geschäfte der ältesten englischen Eisenbahn. Das steigende Erträgnis der Stockton-Darlington-Bahn veranlaßte P., die Erweiterung der Bahn energisch zu betreiben. Seinem Einfluß war hauptsächlich die Verlängerung der Bahn über Stockton nach Middlesborough und nach dem Badeort Saltburn by the Sea zu danken.
